MEDITATIONS of my heart

Beloved, it is our duty to do everything possible to keep the Word of God in our hearts. Meditation is crucial for our transformation and it is a command to us that God considers very seriously.

Throughout the day, our minds are open for many thoughts and information. In our days, with the proliferation of information all around the news outlets and social media, there are many thoughts, philosophies and ideas that seek to influence us.

There are many conscious and unconscious thoughts that occupy our minds and consequently our hearts everyday. The scripture teaches us that for the Word to not depart from us, there is the need to meditate on it day and night.

Meditation is deep contemplation; focusing your mind on a particular object, thought or activity. We are encouraged to think on the Word. To fixate our minds on the things of God. On whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Phil 4:8)

Beloved, what we feed our minds with is what will proceed out of our hearts and mouths. When we meditate on God’s word, thinking on the scriptures deeply, asking questions, studying and applying ourselves, we will reap the benefits of living the Christ-like life outwardly.

The process of moving the Word from just our heads to our hearts is done by constant, daily, repetitive studying and meditation. In those deep ponderings, God teaches us the truths about the Christ-like life, and enriches our faith lives. The meditations of our heart are not hidden from Him, and He encourages us to feed on His word, to hide the Word in our hearts, and to ensure that we are constantly full of the Word, so that we can withstand the many devices the enemy throws our way.

Beloved, let us endeavor to meditate on the Word today. Determine to think on it, to brood on it, to let it seep down into your heart and transform your mind. Determine to confess the Word to your situations today knowing that whatsoever He has promised in His word, He is able to perform. Amen.

Psalm 19;14

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”
