I miss you

125/133

I miss you.
You, the one who owns my thoughts at 2a.m
You, the recipient of my darkest poems.
You, who is almost never really here.
I miss you, and my heart really hurts.

Have you ever missed someone so much
you could actually feel it in your chest?
I’m talking about missing their smile..
The shape and strength of their palms.
The sound of their laugh.
Even their habits of annoyance.
Everything seems great about them
simply because they are no longer here.

Love is weird.
One minute your love is present, giving you immense happiness.
The next minute, they are gone. Leaving nothing.
Just their absence.
And if I’m any good a poet, your brain is reminding you
Of the one you miss, this very moment.
You must be reminiscing..
The time span between the happy times up
until the moment they left.
With or without saying a goodbye, it’s always sour.
Thinking about it builds up an emotional pulp in your chest.
How you wish to have them back
Instead of these random reminders of the role they played in your life.

To miss someone, is to have them missing from you.
A part you wish to, but can no longer have.
Like the way God must feel about us.
He knew us before we were formed in the womb
I believe we existed with Him, way above the stars.
Till chaos and the blemish of a man forever separated
our spirits and Him by a mould of clay. Dust.
We’re here. And so is He… We’re simply not close enough.

God yearns for your love.
He misses you and desperately tries to get your attention
Within those twenty-four hours.
The sound of waves, clouds in the sky
Leaves rustling along with birds chirping
Every creature seems to attend to His cry.
God is present. Fully existent.
Just waiting for you to stretch out your arms.

I strongly believe, the way we miss someone is
but a reflection of God’s heart for us.
And when we seek validation from others,
That’s just the void craving for its creator. God,
You’ll never find who you really are
Until you ask The One who created you.

I miss people I can never have back, we all do.
God misses you too
so when Jesus wants to bring you back,
Don’t think twice. Don’t hesitate.
Just run home.
He’ll never say goodbye.
