Let’s be honest
Love is tough.
Only because it’s very confusing..
If we follow anatomy then the first love we encountered was in a woman’s physiology.
By the sharing of her blood and nutrients via a navel string we learn at first hand,
Love is giving..
And as the heart beats day in day out
We get accustomed to this environment. Feeding off the crumbs of another’s pain and morning sickness.
The womb is home, comfortable.. enriching
Love is forever ; our tiny brains must be thinking.
Until a turbulent force pushes us out of that lovely space
Our cries of discomfort are met with tears of joy mixed with pain
And there, perhaps is the second lesson of love;
It demands sacrifice.. to see the smile on another’s must equal some discomfort.
Now this is where it gets tricky.
Depending on a lot of factors i like to call destiny we are subjected to different shades of the feeling of love
All sides of the irregularly shaped dice of love
From all angles
Blood and water
Family and foe
Promises and disappointments
Expectations and regrets
We are tossed and turned by the wave of love so much that for most of us
By the time we get to the cross of Calvary
Our love theory undesirable and unfriendly.
And at that moment, depending on whatever led you there
We are told to look up to see the blood that Jesus shed.
For most of us, that sums up love
And all the facets we’ve encountered is evident in this one Man’s sacrifice.
And this is Love
Jesus is Love
The Promise and fulfillment of love
So palpable we cast our fears unto Him.
He is the one called love
And all our disappointments will become a thing of the past
And this we trust..
The greatest lie of salvation
Is that our flesh has come to rest
And as we look up unto Jesus,
The flesh shudders in expectation of the doom that befalls it.
Our spirits are resurrected but this flesh is about to imitate Jesus.
So we enter the church and the cycle of love is repeated
And we’re back to being upset
Forgetting that in Him is love
And that seed is everything represented on the cross
Sacrifice, pain and forgiveness
That is the seed of love
To love is to give.
For-giving oneself unto the next
For the sake of purpose of unity in Christ Jesus.
To grow the fruit of love the seed must be planted and subjected
To the best and harshest of weather conditions
Even in an enabling environment of Christians
To love is be like Christ on the cross
Ready to sacrifice oneself for Higher Purpose
The remedy for the pain that comes with love is to look to the cross
The constant reminder of the ultimate gain
That the Father gets to tell a redemptive story with our lives..
So wear your crown of thorns and harsh criticisms
Of unfair accusations and betrayals by bestfriends
Wear the nails of maltreatment and the spits of ridicule like a badge of honour
Wiping every dart with the shield of forgiveness
Looking onto Jesus, the greatest example of love.
We grow by what we are fed on
And as we feed on the Word which is God Himself,
We can only grow
Become fruitful and multiply
On the earth as the many incorruptible seed of the truest representation of Love
Grow as God’s ambassadors.
Grow as ambassadors of Love.
