Father’s day is not today.
It was the day I was born;
The night you consented to procreate me at dawn.
It may have been a decision of pleasure or pain
maybe, #BIGMISTAKE
But you didn’t know I wasn’t your choice,
You didn’t see the angels rejoice.
For my Father had chosen You.
They had seen,
My Father pen down my name under your lineage #IDENTITY-TAG ;
Permitted you to tuck my feeble feet under your wings #SHELTER
HE handed me over to you…
Trusting you to tell me about Him on earth #TEACHER.
HE planned to show you how to maneuvre me through the rod and word into His design – a disciple. #EXAMPLE.
HE knew I’d watch you labour and earn. #MENTOR.
HE knew He put in you, the ability to deliver earthly bread. #PROVIDER.
In your care, I could go to the darkest alleys with no fear. #PROTECTOR.
God chose you, as an outlet of His love for me #FATHERLYLOVER
…so please pardon me, when I say Father’s Day is not today.
It’s in Your eyes, Father’s Day.
It’s in your voice, piercing through the cracks and scoldings.
It’s in the UPs and DOWNs.
It’s in you staying. It’s in you leaving.
It’s everyday you whispered a prayer because of me.
It’s in your ability to stand as a man. Fully. Daily believing.
It’s in your fear of incapability that drives you to work hard.
It’s in your submission to the Spirit of God, the ultimate test of manhood.
Father’s Day is in your desire to be a better man,
Despite of the visible shackles on your hands.
Catch the hint:
Father’s Day is forever unchanging…
For the whole universe is seated on the laps of the Supreme Being,
And He chose to be seen as a Father.
Granted, you’ve made mistakes, for yourself…and me #generations.
But I’ve not seen you quit on life.
You’ve not asked for a refund of your blood.
So your lordship remains untainted
And the utmost respect I choose to give you, regardless.
My Father chose you, and He makes no mistakes.
I therefore join the chorus of those who chose today to say,
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
This love remains.
