Daily Bread

Matthew 6:11

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

Psalm 119:147

“I rise before the dawning of the morning, And cry for help; I hope in Your word.”

Beloved, the need for daily prayer and word cannot be overemphasized in the life of a believer! As water is to a fish, so is the Presence of God to man. We need God to survive and He is ready to provide for us daily.

It is said that the downfall of any institution is from it’s foundation. The higher a building is, the deeper its foundations have to be; and for us as believers, the foundation is Prayer & the Word as led by The Holy Spirit. Beloved, what is your prayer life like? When last did you really pray? How often do you pray? How regularly do you study and meditate on the Word of God? How much of the Word have you hidden in your heart? How many of the promises of God are imprinted in your mind? Beloved, these questions are just a few to highlight the need for us to evaluate the foundation of our faith. Undoubtedly, there is always a connection between your devotional life and your growth as a believer and we must be careful not to lose sight of how deeply we must set up the foundation.

Brethren, we eat everyday to equip our bodies with enough nutrients to handle the tasks for the day. Your devotion is not for special occasions of trouble, but we must endeavor to cultivate a habit of daily seeking after God. In prayer we converse with God and by His Word He can also speak to us. It is necessary for us to guard our devotional life well, that we may present ourselves before God everyday to receive of Him. In constant daily fellowship we also mature and become equipped ‘for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;” (Ephesians

Let us be encouraged to commune with God every single day for empowerment and guidance throughout.

Give us our daily bread, that we may be strengthened and equipped for the said day and beyond. Shalom!
