Waiting On a Word

Scriptural Reading

Genesis 21:1-2

‘And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him’

1 Samuel 1:20

So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”

Beloved, blessed is he who waits on the manifestation of the Word God has spoken. Has He not spoken, and will He not do it? It is true, brethren, that waiting can be hard. It is tough and nobody enjoys it.  When we earnestly pray over and over for a particular burden, desire or request and the answers are not forthcoming, we can become discouraged and it may seem like God has abandoned us. But beloved, God answers prayer and He has a plan for us. A plan that is good, and will give us a future and a hope.

During those seasons of waiting, when God is seemingly silent and we don’t see the answers to our prayers, we must do everything we can, fighting on our knees in prayer and in fellowship to receive a Word from God, to receive our Rhema, concerning the issue.

Beloved, waiting on the Lord is not just sitting in vain, complaining and living in frustration.  Worrying and being frantic will not let the answers come any faster. It is on the contrary, a time to seek the face of God, to seek the voice and opinion of God concerning the matter. In our waiting seasons, we seek a Word from God on which we can stand. We search for His promises concerning the matter and build our faith on that word. Beloved, without faith, it is impossible to please God; and faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. Brethren, your posture will change, your confessions will change, your actions will change when you have a word to stand on. Like a pregnant woman waiting for the birth of her child, when we have a Word to stand on, we only have to believe and wait for God’s time.

Like Hannah, we will only wait in faith, for the process of time, because the Lord has spoken. Brethren, just like Peter, when our eyes are not fixed on the Lord, the circumstances around us will make us sink. We must seek and keep meditating on a Word from the Lord. While we wait, we build faith. While we wait, we serve. While we wait, we confess that God is Good and that He is a promise keeper. We will build faith when we wait on a word, knowing that at the set time, God will make what He has spoken concerning you come to pass. He is a faithful God who stands on His Word. Shalom.

Memory Verse

Isaiah 60:22

The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation.
At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”
