It’s my birthday today. And in the midst of all the wahala going on in my country election-wise, I find myself musing over the years I’ve been on earth.

Someone close told me today, that my humility is all the way skewed to the left. Where it literally upholds everyone else but myself. That as a matter of fact, I often slaughter myself to make others shine.

The person was right. I do DO that!. It’s what subconsciously I’ve always thought modesty was:_ self-slander.

Who taught me that? Probably insecurities and society. I’ll never know. But it’s definitely not humility to look down on yourself.

I’m part Melancholic. Meaning i tend to subtly give way to depressive, self-disparaging , moody, worrying, anxious thoughts easily.

Don’t worry, it’s not a long post about how to combat depression in these abnormal times. Lol

I’m just here to tell myself I deserve to be loved. Given to me by myself.                               I deserve to really SEE myself in the most beautiful light when i look in the mirror
I deserve to receive compliments and not try to deflect them by enhancing the giver’s attributes instead.

Often times, we find ourselves always striving to do better. To correct our flaws. To cleanse our weak spots.
Many times, we yearn to BECOME by dying. By killing off our insecurities and shameful spaces. So we are often fighting against ourselves, digging hard to clean house and present a perfect us.
Forgetting tiles are kept white by constant cleaning.

We forget to strengthen our strengths!          We (yes, you dear Saint), often seek to hide our glories in spiritual language of modesty. Where over time, timidity fosters and fear creeps in.

It’s okay to celebrate yourself without a birthday. Do that everyday.

You’re literally created in the image and likeness of God.

Beloved, i have read the account of Jesus and I’m yet to see where He ever belittled Himself.Self sabotage, self-deprecation, self-doubt are not of GOD. HE wants you to be confident.

Like, yo! That’s His Superstar Creation!
The one He took time to create and form from dust. The one who can do all things according to the power given to him in Christ.

You’re a big deal. I am a big deal. And there’s nothing to be ashamed of in declaring that. There’s no ‘but I’m a work in progress…
No ‘i have my flaws

No ‘I’m still working on myself..

No ‘I’m shy.

No ‘others are better.

No ‘please stop exaggerating.

No self slander is pleasing to God.

I am amazing is a full sentence. Periodt!!Don’t excuse your awesomeness away. Don’t dim your light to fit the world. Don’t dim your light before you can lift another. You don’t have to be ugly to see beauty. You are IT! Period!
